It has always been my belief that a person should have a hobby that is close to one's heart. The hobby can be anything in this world as long as it is not harmful to self and others. It could be anything from learning about teeny weeny insects to the great unresolved mysteries of this galaxy. A hobby, in my opinion, aligns one's body with the mind. It satisfies the inner urges of a soul, giving it some inner peace when things go correct or wrong. A true hobby lets the human being to be immersed in pure joy, pursuing what he or she loves doing. No one is the same as no genetic makeup is the same. All of us are different and so are our needs. A hobby serves as a connection of our inner selves to the matters of the universe.
When a lot of time is on hand and boredom kicks in, a hobby can serve as a productive as well as a comforting activity. That hobby for me is photography. When I have been through many ups and downs in life, this hobby has served me well. It has been a great stressbuster to take that camera out from the bag and just capture what my heart yearns for. I discovered that during times of stress I could turn myself to capturing pictures and editing them like there is no end to the world to attain Nirvana. I love Science and Math and anything related to numbers and logic. But the art called photography brings me joy like no other. When i am in deep stress, I turn myself to capturing or doing post production work that serves as a great relief. Mine is photography but yours could be something else. It does not have to big but something small that can give you some immense joy. If you still have not found one, keep looking. As with all matters of heart, you will know when you see it.

Hello all,
Welcome to my blog !
A little bit about myself. I am married to my husband, Suresh and have two boys - Rishi and Rishaan. I am originally from Chennai where my parents live but call Chicago as my second home now. I hold an Engineering degree from India and a MBA degree from Chicago. I worked as a software consultant close to 12 years before deciding to take a break for my kids. Though I love math and science to the moon and back, art has played a major role in my life.
Out of the many things that I picked up during my time at home, photography is the hobby that I am very passionate about. I was instantly sold on photography as it is the only one that has the ability to bring back the bygone moments. Art runs in my mom's side of the family starting with my Grandfather. All my maternal uncles and mom are very artistic and have that eye for seeing beauty in almost anything. My camera is my friend and is very close to my heart. One can see a digital SLR camera on my coffee table all the time as I shoot my kid's precious candid moments all the time. I have had many models of Canon cameras but I can see myself switching to Sony mirrorless. While I was intimidated at first when I read the manual of my first SLR many years ago, the camera really went nicer on me and showed me its magic. I love doing portraits of people both indoors and outdoors. But I also love documentary with my family as is. You can see a few of my captures under the "documentary" folder.
Though I have been shooting my family for sometime now, it was not until recently that I decided to get out of my comfort zone and shoot families other than my own. I hope to do justice to this art as much as I can and create more content.
Thanks for stopping by !
