It has always been my belief that a person should have a hobby that is close to one's heart. The hobby can be anything in this world as long as it is not harmful to self and others. It could be anything from learning about teeny weeny insects to the great unresolved mysteries of this galaxy. A hobby, in my opinion, aligns one's body with the mind. It satisfies the inner urges of a soul, giving it some inner peace when things go correct or wrong. A true hobby lets the human being to be immersed in pure joy, pursuing what he or she loves doing. No one is the same as no genetic makeup is the same. All of us are different and so are our needs. A hobby serves as a connection of our inner selves to the matters of the universe.
When a lot of time is on hand and boredom kicks in, a hobby can serve as a productive as well as a comforting activity. That hobby for me is photography. When I have been through many ups and downs in life, this hobby has served me well. It has been a great stressbuster to take that camera out from the bag and just capture what my heart yearns for. I discovered that during times of stress I could turn myself to capturing pictures and editing them like there is no end to the world to attain Nirvana. I love Science and Math and anything related to numbers and logic. But the art called photography brings me joy like no other. When i am in deep stress, I turn myself to capturing or doing post production work that serves as a great relief. Mine is photography but yours could be something else. It does not have to big but something small that can give you some immense joy. If you still have not found one, keep looking. As with all matters of heart, you will know when you see it.
